Trouble

Well, it was a happy, easy trip to Lille and a short walk to the other station to pick up the train to London. Alas, our train ended up waiting ninety minutes before the chunnel, and then a mild disaster struck: we got off a stop early. Somehow, we disembarked in Kent, and they told us we could not get on the next train coming through. So we got on a bus filled with a bunch of loud, foul-mouthed youths who'd spent the evening at a massive, truly massive mall. Then we got a train to London Bridge. Then we caught a taxi to Jono and Alison's, getting in just before 11 p.m. Of course, without a cell phone, we could not call and explain what happened, leaving Jono and Alison to wonder.

On Saturday, we took it easy before driving out to a nativity play performed on a farm. As darkness falls, the audience standing outside sees Mary and Joseph coming over the hill and eventually badgering their way into the stable. The audience then heads back to the fields where the shepherds get a message from Gabriel. We then file into the barn for the show. The actors, members of  local church, seemed very, very sincere, if a bit fixated on the fact that Mary was pregnant despite not "knowing" Joseph. They used a real baby and overall it was quite fun.
